Founder

Hi, I am Nicole, the founder and owner of Indian Summer Linen.

I have always had a passion for linen. In fact, I spent my entire first pay cheque on it (and my husband claims a good many more since). Despite this, strangely, I didn’t find my products; they found me.

Whilst working as a diplomat in India, I was introduced to Raju. His family has been hand crafting linen in Bengal since 1915 and travelling far and wide to sell it. Raju’s great grandfather journeyed as far afield as America to pedal nightgowns designed to meet western tastes, a skill that has been passed down from generation to generation.

Naturally, I became a star client of Raju’s, buying his products for my own home, as well as for friends and family. Raju would travel hundreds of miles on trains and buses to make the deliveries.

the single most rewarding aspect of offering the products that I do, is knowing I am helping to improve the lives of others.

By the end of my time in India, it was obvious what I should do - share Raju’s unique, hand crafted, 100% natural products with others who would appreciate the beauty it brings to a home.

However, the single most rewarding aspect of offering the products that I do, is knowing I am helping to improve the lives of others. Each item of linen is hand crafted in the homes of a network of women from two rural villages whilst their husbands tend to the fields. Some items can take up to six to eight weeks to complete.

In a fast-paced world of mass production, Indian Summer Linen’s products are truly hand crafted and truly unique. I hope that viewing and purchasing them via my website will bring you the same satisfaction that being privileged to offer them has brought me.
